May Day is the day of international unity of the working class. In the light of the principles promised by our state policy, the celebration of May Day in Bangladesh has a special significance with the aim of establishing an exploitation-free society and stopping the inhumanity of man towards his fellow man.
In May 1886, the workers of the American city of Chicago, who were suffering from the pain of exploitation, raised slogans for their recognition as men. First of all, that movement was to talk about the working hours and basic amenities of the workers, so that they could live as human beings. Undoubtedly, it was a fatal blow to the moneyed class.
As a result, the streets of the city of Chicago were stained with the warm blood of the workers. The capitalist government and its agents adopted all possible means to strangle the voices of the workers. The labor leaders were hanged.
But, the destitute workers came out successfully by sacrificing their lives. The sacrifice of the workers of the city of Chicago is remembered every year all over the world. However, it is not just a day of remembrance of the martyred workers who fought for human rights.
A day of inspiration for workers to unite to achieve their demands. On this great May Day, all workers must unite to lead the nation on the path of prosperity, progress and peace and to sit on a respected chair in the world community.
